I think I might be some sort of tote bag magnet. Either that or the world is now facing a post-plastic bag deluge of tote bags. However, I still see countless customers at the supermarket using opting for paper bags, clearly not everyone has my problem.
I have several favorite bags that I leave in my car and a compact one in my purse at all times, and those are plenty. Yet new ones always seem to be coming my way. A friend gave me a pretty one for my birthday (which I’m keeping) because she knows I care about waste, our son Theo’s soccer coach gave us one at the start of the season, and I people keep giving me stuff in tote bags. So this evening, when I went to buy dinner, I combined two of my previous tote bag Giveaways. I hung one up on a sign outside the store “guerilla Giveaway” style and for the other, I asked a cashier to offer it to a customer who needs one.
I feel a bit repetitive in my Giveaway today, but I worry that if I don’t keep giving the bags away, by the end of the year, I’ll end up with tidy home, but cupboards full of bags that may be re-usable but will never actually be used.
